Note | The registry kept by the Reformed Church of Sexbierum hold the following information: In the year 1629, on March 15, Ids Pieters and Antje Coerts have had their last proclamation, on March 29 they have been officially married and baptized at Pietersbierum. The fore mentioned marriage contract from 1629 shows that Ids Pieters and Antje Coerts were Baptists and only entered the Dutch Reformed Church upon marriage. The contract also shows they used their father's name as did the vast majority of the Frisian population. Ids named himself Ids Pieters (son of Pieter) and Antje named herself Antje Coerts (daughter of Coert). Only after the creation of the registry office in 1811, everyone had to have a family name registered within a year. After their marriage, Ids and Antje lived in Pietersbierum. This is shown by a notarial deed from 1639 at Barradeel. The same deed shows that both spouses had lent the amount of 100 Dutch guilders from the ferryman Aesge Pouwels. |
