Note | Foppe Sierks lived on the black peat in 1811 when he had choose the family name. This appeared in the house of the grain merchant Izaak Jacobs Duma, living in the house at the bridge at Opeinde which now is an inn but was the municipality house from 1811-1825. Hedzer Rinses Duma, farmer on the pastorie farm, was then Maire or burgomaster of the municipality Oudega and wrote the name in a book. Foppe Sierks had two notes in its pocket with the names Bijma and the farmer, because he was a "bijker" and farmer. At the inn he groped in its pocket and obtained accidentally the note where Bijma stood. |
