The Queenton Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, the 7th inst., was the scene of a very pretty and popular wedding, when George, eldest son of the late Mr. Isaac Chappell, and Mrs. Chappell, of Mill Street, Charters Towers, was united in holy matrimony to Susie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Aitken, of Townsville Road, Charters Towers, the Rev. Scarfe officiating. The bride looked charming as she entered the church on the arm of Mr. F. Polkinghorn, who gave her away. The bride was robed in very fine Japanese silk costume, with a finely tucked yoke of net, edged with embossed lace and very prettily braided with white silk, two large tucks falling over the shoulders, edged with dainty white silk fringe; net sleeves prettily trimmed with silk braid and embossed lace, with a plain skirt finely tucked, completed a very handsome gown. She also wore the usual wreath of orange blossoms and long bridal veil, and carried a beautiful trail bouquet of tuberoses, eucharis lillies, and asparagus ferns. The bride had a attendance her sister. Miss Annie Aitken, as bridesmaid, who was attired in a fine white muslin gown tucked and inserted with Valenciennes lace and embroidery, and she wore a very pretty white hat wreathed in lily of the valley and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of roses and asparagus ferns. The bridegroom had Mr. "Watty" Gordon as groomsman. After the ceremony the party were driven to the residence of the bride's parents, where all good wishes were waiting the happy couple from the numerous guests assembled. A decidedly appertising breakfast was in readiness, and full justice was done to the many good things provided, and the usual toasts were duly honored. Mr. and Mrs. Chappell were the recipients of numerous and costly presents.</transcription></metadataxml>
